Xyron manufactures
the Profinish™ Cold
Laminator third party for Varitronics®. The Profinish™ 24"
wide machine & laminate is more expensive than Xyron's 2500 25"
wide machine (see chart below). Except for an inch, both machines are
identical in operation.

Because their machine and laminate sets are proprietary to their systems,
Varitronics can charge whatever price they want. Price
increases are not that unusual (see the box below). Remember, its not what you pay today for
your machine, it's what you will pay in the future for the consumables.

Finally
consider this information:
Varitronics ® raised the price of their double sided laminate on
February 1 , 2005 for their Profinish ™ laminator from $199.95 a set
to $239.95 - a $40.00 increase! Ouch! On August 1, 2006
Varitronics ® again raised their laminate sets by another $10.00 to
$249.99 and their laminators from $1495 to $1995.Their laminate now
set for $279.95 a set.

Xyron is the actual manufacturer of
numerous other branded cold laminators including the
3M®
or Scotch® Brand
LS1050 cold laminator. However, even though they all look alike, and
in the case of the Profinish® laminator 1" smaller in width, the other
brand laminators and their laminate are more expensive than the Xyron
2500.
Please note Varitronics'®
ProFinish® XL Cold Laminating System is no longer available. if you need
a 38" or 42" wide laminator, please see the Xyron 4400 cold laminator,
That's why we recommend the Xyron
1255, Xyron 2500 & the Xyron
4400 laminators.
